Wess "Warm Daddy"Anderson
Wess "Warm Daddy"Anderson, Alto Saxophone, was born in Brooklyn, NY. His father, a jazz drummer, introduced him to jazz via Charlie Parker. This inspired him to take up the alto saxophone. Wess attended Jazzmobile Workshops in Harlem studying jazz theory, reading music and performance. Wynton and Branford Marsalis encouraged him to continue his studies by pointing him to Southern University and the legendary clarinetist Alvin Batiste. Later, Wess toured with vocal great Betty Carter for two months before Wynton asked him to join his Sextet. Following this, he became the lead alto saxophonist with Marsalis’ Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, a position he held until the summer of 2005. Anderson's 1994 debut album “Warm Daddy In The Garden Of Swing” (Atlantic Records) features him playing a set of all original compositions.
